Mod Distant Horizons: A Level of Detail mod – adds the LOD (Levels Of Detail) effect to minecraft.
This is a graphical technique in which the world at long distances from the player loses its quality, but it completely corresponds to the world of the game and if you approach it, the quality will gradually increase improve.
This function significantly reduces the load on the computer and allows you to review remote objects. This mod tries to replicate this technology in Minecraft, which looks quite interesting. This is not the first mod of this kind, not so long ago I posted farplanetwo, they have similar functionality, but are currently being developed for the old version of the game. As you knew (or didn’t know), there is no LOD in Minecraft; when you change the rendering distance, the game displays full chunks around the player, which incredibly loads the computer with each added rendering chunk; at distances of 32 or 64 chunks, even super powerful computers begin to lag.
What does the mod do?
The mod loads distant chunks, but displays them in low or ultra low quality and detail. If these chunks are close to you, then they, of course, look pretty mediocre, but if these chunks are far away, then they continue the world of the game very well, the distant world is clearly visible. But remember that the mod is in alpha version, there may be unstable operation, increased load, errors and bugs.
